Overview
Role Overview: Responsible for operating cash registers, processing transactions, weighing and bagging customer purchases, and providing courteous customer service. Handles a variety of products including groceries, produce, and frozen items. Maintains knowledge of store programs, product locations, and promotes store promotions and loyalty programs. Ensures adherence to safety, sanitation, and security policies, and maintains a clean, stocked, and well-organized department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cash registers, scanners, and scales efficiently.
- Process various payment methods accurately, including cash, credit, checks, and benefits programs.
- Assist with stocking, merchandising, and ensuring proper signage and pricing.
- Communicate store programs, specials, and coupons effectively to customers.
- Follow safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Provide excellent customer service, assist with guest experience, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior retail experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform bending, stooping, and twisting. Suitable for a retail environment with varied temperatures and noise levels.
