Overview
Role Overview: Responsible for operating cash registers and electronic scanners to process customer purchases, receive payments, and assist with bagging, ensuring courteous customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cash register and scanner for a variety of grocery products, including produce, frozen foods, dairy, and meats.
- Process financial transactions accurately, including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons.
- Weigh and bag customer purchases, ensuring proper product identification and pricing.
- Maintain store displays, merchandise check-stand, and ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and security policies.
- Communicate store programs, in-store promotions, and coupons to customers, modeling high service standards.
- Assist with stocking, handle damaged or spoiled products, and follow all PPE, food safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned, including possible duties in other departments.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- Strong verbal communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and work in varied temperatures and environments.
