Overview
Role Overview: The Electrical Design Contingent Engineer supports project activities by performing electrical design, prototyping, and assembly trials, ensuring solutions meet performance, cost, manufacturing, and timeline goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrical design activities, develop innovative designs using 3D modeling and 2D drawings, and optimize for manufacturability, environmental considerations, and cost.
- Perform engineering calculations (e.g., beam bending, pressure drop) and apply creepage and clearance standards for high-voltage components.
- Design wire harnesses and perform tolerance analysis to ensure proper assembly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, suppliers, QA, and manufacturing teams, providing updates and technical support.
- Participate in assembly and manufacturing trials, vendor visits, and support design for manufacturing activities.
- Maintain accurate BOMs and drawings, troubleshoot design issues, and ensure components meet technical targets.
- Support documentation updates, problem report follow-ups, and quality reviews prior to engineering change notices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3-5+ years in electrical design engineering, preferably in high-performance industries.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6 preferred).
- Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and wire harness design.
- Experience with engineering calculations, GD&T, and DFM practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Willingness to travel for supplier visits and testing activities.
