Fiber Construction Technician

Overview

Role Overview:
The Fiber Construction Technician performs general labor for outside plant fiber optic network construction, including installing communications facilities (buried and aerial) in compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with equipment transport, placement of fiber, and installation of enclosures.

Climbing poles and structures, using bucket trucks, and marking fiber facilities.

Supporting fiber splicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

Operating hand tools, locators, test equipment, and maintaining equipment.

Completing paperwork and assisting field technicians as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical/utility construction, or related fields; or relevant certification, military service, or honorable discharge.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a Class A CDL, and adherence to safety standards.
• Physical ability to climb structures, kneel, dig, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in various conditions.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunication products; preferred experience with directional drilling.
• Proven organizational skills, flexibility for travel and overtime, and operation of manual transmission vehicles.

Training includes safety, pole climbing, bucket trucks, and fiber testing, with durations varying based on team assignment.
