Role Overview:
The Senior Fiber Construction Technician oversees the construction and maintenance of PON/fiber network facilities, operating advanced construction equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, and plows. They manage projects by coordinating resources, ensuring safety protocols, and maintaining documentation. They read plans and permits, perform locates, and interact with municipalities, utility companies, and property owners to facilitate smooth project execution. Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, testing, splicing, repairing fiber optic facilities, and performing quality control inspections. The role involves training team members, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining equipment.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of construction equipment operation or military service with honorable discharge
- 1+ year of team leadership or project management experience
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for DOT requirements
- Ability to obtain a Class A CDL (training provided if needed)
- Physical ability to climb, dig, lift, and pull, and pass safety training
- Preferred experience in fiber optic or utility construction
- Understanding of telecommunication products and services
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Willingness to travel, work overtime, and operate manual transmission vehicles
