Overview
Role: Cashier at a grocery retail environment, responsible for operating cash registers and electronic scanners, processing transactions, and assisting customers with bagging purchases while providing courteous service.
Key Duties:
- Operate cash registers and handle a variety of products, including groceries, produce, and frozen foods.
- Process payments via cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, and coupons accurately.
- Weigh and bag customer purchases, ensuring proper product handling and identification.
- Maintain knowledge of store programs, product locations, and current promotions to assist customers effectively.
- Ensure compliance with company policies on security, cash handling, and product handling.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the department; assist with stocking as needed.
- Communicate store programs and promotions to customers, providing high-quality customer service.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and food safety guidelines; support guest experience and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior retail or related experience is a plus.
- Strong verbal communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform bending or twisting.
